Being a Skateboarding brand by trade won’t stop Palace from getting into bikes. The label has a previous history of creating gear dedicated to cycling, however, its Brompton collaboration sees it take a different approach than before.

When Palace has traded its decks for peddles in the past, it’s linked up with speed-driven bicycle brands such as Cannondale, which claims to have created the fastest road bike ever, or the performance roadwear label Rapha. Now, it’s switching the tight-fitting lycra and aerodynamic frames for something more city-appropriate.

Palace's latest collaborator, Brompton, is the inventor of a compact city bike that folds up into itself. This nifty design turns the two-wheeler into an easy-to-carry, square-shaped structure.

Palace’s newest bike is on one of these functional, fold-up designs — specifically, the Brompton C Line 2 Speed S Bar Bike — decorated in a “glowstick yellow and disco silver” paint job, inspired by late-night rides.

Across the bike, Palace branding pops up on features such as the saddle, the frame, and a laser-etched license plate.

The bike comes with a matching Cordura pouch featuring a reflective Palace Skateboards logo, only available to those who buy the bike when it releases on May 10 (it will not be sold separately). The bike and bag combo will also be available a week later on Brompton’s website.

The release is part of Palace’s second summer 2024 drop (the first summer drop was released last week and included some surprisingly ordinary co-branded Vans). The rest of the drop includes a range of sports gear with reflective detailing (making it especially good for cyclists) and the loose-knit, zip-up shirt worn by Palace pro skater Rory Milanes in the campaign for the collaborative Brompton bike.

Summer in the city is always the sweatiest, most uncomfortable time to be on public transport. So, this Palace x Brompton bike arrives at a perfect time.
