For the vast majority of our readers, the warmth of summer has retreated and the shift in climate will soon call for heftier garments to keep the cold at bay. Before chillier days creep up unexpectedly, consider upgrading your winter wardrobe with pieces from Italian-born luxury outerwear label Parajumpers.

Founded in 2006 by Massimo Rossetti, himself an avid explorer and outdoorsman, the brand is inspired by the real-life Parajumpers of Anchorage, Alaska — aka the 210th Rescue Squadron (210 RQS). They are a highly-trained unit tasked with extreme rescue missions in the wildest and most remote corners of the world. After an encounter with a serving member of the 210 RQS, Rossetti created the first piece of what would become the Parajumpers Masterpiece family: a supremely functional yet luxurious range of jackets capable of withstanding extreme cold.

For its latest Fall/Winter collection, the brand is launching three new styles ideally suited for colder conditions. The Bold Parka and Cloud jacket are designed for extreme weather, packing extra down filling to keep the chill away. Both jackets are crafted in 20 denier ripstop Cordura with water repellent treatment to repel just about anything city weather can throw at you. The Dream jacket, from the Featherweight series, is crafted in down-proof Pertex fabric. This warm yet lightweight jacket features innovative technical details like square baffling and stretch elastane inserts, making it the perfect silhouette for active pursuits in the coldest conditions.

We took to the streets of New York City to test how versatile these new styles are with musician Aurora Anthony. The rising Nigerian-American singer is known for his unique style sensibilities so we knew his fits wouldn’t disappoint. “You can be in full Parajumpers gear and still look stylish and high-end without [being] weighed down by the clothing,” Anthony tells us. “So if it’s zipped up with the hood on, you’re going to look fly without looking like you’re doing too much.”
