Legendary Entertainment has secured the rights to a Pokémon live-action film franchise.
Numerous studios had been aiming to land a deal with the Pokémon Company in order to take the franchise to the big screen, many following the launch of the already insanely-popular Pokémon Go mobile game.
According to Deadline, the franchise will be built around Detective Pikachu, a character in the Pokémon universe that was introduced through a video game in Japan.
Production is scheduled to begin next year, as Universal will be handling distribution in territories outside of Japan.
As for now, no other details regarding the deal between Legendary and the Pokémon Company have been disclosed, nor information regarding the upcoming film franchise.
Per usual, stay tuned for more.
