Designer Rick Owens presents a new exhibition on display at Triennale di Milano. Titled "Rick Owens. Subhuman Inhuman Superhuman," Owens has in turn curated garments, accessories, furniture, graphics, and publications selected from his 20-plus-year career.
Within the display, you will find Owens promoting moments of beauty that are often overlooked. The retrospective is then highlighted by a sculptural installation which runs throughout the show. The larger piece is composed of concrete, lilies, Adriatic sand, and even Rick's own hair.
"I wanted to take what a dismissive world might mock and create something fine, empathetic, kind, and inclusive," says Owens. "If I could ever so slightly blur the rigid parameters of what is considered beautiful or acceptable in our generation, I will have fulfilled any potential I had to make any positive contribution to this world."
In addition to the exhibition, "Rick Owens. Subhuman Inhuman Superhuman" presents a limited edition box consisting of separate books of text, collaborations with photographers, objects, and Owens' unreleased perfume.
"Rick Owens. Subhuman Inhuman Superhuman" is open from December 15, 2017 through March 25, 2018.
