New Balance

One of New Balance’s youngest dad shoes just got a luxe makeover. Courtesy of Parisian fashion brand Sézane, the 471 arrives dressed for fall, transforming the streamlined runner into something warm, cozy, and quietly indulgent.

Sézane has built its reputation on Parisian essentials. Semi-affordable fashion, thoughtful materials, and knitwear that looks better worn than pressed.

That sensibility translates cleanly to footwear here. The New Balance 471 is a flat-footed, low-profile sneaker that first landed earlier this year, making it a relatively new face in the brand’s rotation.

The Sézane x New Balance 471 leans hard into texture.

A creamy woven knit upper sets the tone, layered with cinnamon-brown suede panels, pumpkin-spiced orange accents at the heel, and a denim “N” at the midfoot. The result feels intentionally autumnal without slipping into costume. Cozy, yes, but still wearable well beyond one season.

While the 471 may be the new kid compared to stalwarts like the 990 or 991, but it’s already showing promise as a collaborative canvas. The model recently starred in a partnership with Chinese bag brand Songmont, which pushed it in a sleeker, leather-forward direction. Sézane’s take makes a different case, proving that texture and tone alone can give the silhouette real personality.

Available now on New Balance’s website, the Sézane x New Balance 471 makes a strong argument for the model’s rookie year. Call it an elderly stepper in training, already learning how to dress well.
