Touch Grass? Nike's Plush Slides Literally Are Grass
Sometimes you really need to go out and touch grass. But Nike just made it possible to do that without leaving your apartment.
The latest Nike ReactX Rejuven8 Slide takes one of the internet’s most overused phrases and turns it into something you can actually wear.
Inspired by the “touch grass” meme that lives permanently in TikTok and Instagram comment sections, the two-slide pack leans all the way into the joke, packaging it as footwear for people who might need a break from doomscrolling.
The concept is simple and smart. One version arrives in “Kelly Green,” channeling fresh-cut lawn energy, while the other slides come in “Wheat,” resembling grass that hasn’t seen water in days.
Together, they mirror the emotional spectrum of being told to log off.
Thankfully, Nike didn’t actually coat the slides in real turf. Instead, both pairs feature a faux-fur footbed designed to feel soft and plush rather than itchy and unpleasant. The green version goes further, wrapping the entire upper in grass-like texture, while a small embroidered cursor-hand detail on the heel quietly seals the joke.
Slides have become one of Nike’s most flexible canvases lately. From UGG-coded comfort pairs to Realtree-adjacent Birkenstock energy, slip-ons have turned into a space where Nike experiments without taking itself too seriously. TheReactX Rejuven8 fits neatly into that lane. It’s playful, self-aware, and oddly calming.
Set to release December 19 on Nike’s website, the “Wheat” pair lands at $70, while the “Kelly Green” version goes for $75. Consider them slides for staying grounded, even when someone online tells you to go touch grass. At the very least, they make for a good screenshot.
