Founded in 2015, Rhuigi Villaseñor’s RHUDE label has done a lot in very little time. Capturing its fans with a heady cocktail of streetwear-leaning graphics, bold prints, and luxury materials, it’s easy to see why RHUDE quickly became one of the most influential young brands on the market. It also set the stage for Rhuigi’s next move: a collaborative collection with Zara.
The collection, entitled RHU (Redesigning Human Uniform), sees Villaseñor transplant his striking graphics onto staple pieces like bowling shirts, polos, lightweight jackets, and even some slides. It feels highly familiar, with a distinctive RHUDE flavor, but there’s one thing that’s altogether new: the luxury price tags of Villaseñor’s original label have been slashed.
With polos costing as little as $39 and jackets as low as $119, Zara x Rhuigi RHU makes the RHUDE aesthetic much more accessible. It’s the latest example in a long line of luxury labels teaming up with high-street stores to do so. Take JW Anderson or Christophe Lemaire who work alongside UNIQLO every season, or Versace, Maison Margiela, and more who have put their twist on H&M collections.
