Matthew Williams continues to prove that the collaborative ideals of streetwear can be valuable tools in the world of luxury. His latest evidence? Teaming up with Italian powerhouse Slam Jam for a range of exclusive colorways of 1017 ALYX 9SM SS22 staples. 1017 ALYX 9SM x Slam Jam is available now.

The collaborative capsule collection consists of three components: a short-sleeved T-shirt, a Cuban-link necklace, and the newly iconic ALYX Mono Slip-on. Inspired by the colors of volcanic eruptions, the capsule is based around bold reds, oranges, and black. Using a gradient effect, the colors blend perfectly to become an understated pairing that stands out on further inspection.

Arguably the highlight of the 1017 ALYX 9SM x Slam Jam collection, the Mono Slip-on is made from a single piece of EVA foam. The structure offers up a great canvas for the bold new colorway. So good, in fact, that it’s been treated to two variants. One in black and brown, nodding to the earthy colors of a volcano, and the other in black and burgundy, inspired by dry lava.

The tee also lands in burnt brown and burnt burgundy and features a re-worked, faded ALYX logo front and center. Accompanying the Mono Slip-on and T-shirt is the label’s signature Cuban-link necklace. Based around the unmistakable rollercoaster buckle, the silver necklaces feature a section of sprayed links in volcanic colors to distinguish them from regular ALYX drops.
