Highsnobiety
Double Tap to Zoom

Like any good sequel, the Spring/Summer 2025 Emporio Armani x Our Legacy WORK SHOP collection doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it deepens the plot. There are new scenes, new settings, and some unexpected threads woven in, but the core remains the same: Softness, subtlety, and slow refinement.

“Already when releasing the first collection together for Fall 2023, we felt that this needs a summer version,” Jockum Hallin, co-founder of Our Legacy and creative director of WORK SHOP, tells Highsnobiety.

“[We were] romanticizing around an Armani vacation wardrobe, maybe worn in his personal summer getaway on Pantelleria where we later shot the campaign.”

If you’re new here, Our Legacy WORK SHOP is the experimental arm of the cult Swedish fashion brand, best known for eco-conscious drops with the likes of Stüssy, Satisfy, and Dr. Martens.

These are all brands with a counter-cultural savoir-faire, so when Emporio Armani first linked with the Stockholm-based label in 2023, it was unexpected. But not unearned.

Giorgio Armani is the main luxury line, but this collab taps the younger, more accessible Emporio Armani offshoot where experimentation thrives. Both brands approach refinement differently — Armani through precision and Mediterranean restraint, Our Legacy through tactility and quiet weirdness — yet their collision brought out something sharper in both.

For the second act, there's an added twist. East Asian tailoring influences are quietly folded into the garments, yielding kimono-style wrap detailing, robe-like coats, and airy collarless shirts that hint at Giorgio Armani’s long-documented admiration for traditional Japanese garment design, most notably seen in his 2011 Privé couture show.

“We picked up on a lot of East Asia influences that Mr Armani has had over the years, and merged this with retreat dressing, the kind of pieces you get when checking into your favorite beach hotel,” says Hallin. “Also, doing womenswear for this sophomore collection made the energy shift up, with beautiful synergies between men’s and womenswear as a result.”

So what are we really seeing in Emporio Armani x Our Legacy WORK SHOP part two? A fluid, distilled wardrobe that plays with structure. Plus, in true Our Legacy WORK SHOP style, it finds beauty in old fabrics.

“Using residual and deadstock fabrics is the main practice of Our Legacy WORK SHOP. This [mentality of] ‘creating with what we have in front of us’ is really healthy, in many ways: Both creatively and environmentally,” says Hallin.

“Here, with the help from the Armani team, we were lucky to dig up some amazing and unique fabrics that fit well into our vision. The available meters varied a lot so some of the pieces we´re launching come in really limited quantities.

Cristopher Nying (Halling’s fellow co-founder), also recreated fabrics from vintage Armani pieces and archive Armani fabric swatches, that we then reproduced in Italy and Portugal to make the cipher complete.”

Collabs like these offer the best of both worlds: Timeless design with staying power, even when the drop’s red-hot. Our Legacy proves you can cross isles and oceans without losing your edge. And if 2023’s collab was the surprise hit, this one’s the polished follow-up we didn’t know we needed.

Turns out, there’s still hope for sequels.
