Acne Studios enlists NBA superstar Russell Westbrook to front its new SS19 campaign, shot by Juergen Teller. Westbrook was captured wearing Acne Studios denim while playing basketball in Oklahoma, where he suits up for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“I was already a huge fan of Acne Studios, so I was really excited when they asked me to be the face for their new campaign,” says Westbrook. “I really identify with Acne Studios because their aesthetic is very unique, and I like to be unique too.”

As alluded to, the focus of the campaign is denim, as jeans were the first garments ever produced by Acne Studios more than two decades ago. The denim that Russ is wearing in the editorial is the 1996 fit, a recreation of Acne Studios’ first jeans.

In speaking on his first campaign for Acne Studios, Juergen Teller says, “I was very excited to shoot for Acne Studios. They seem so free and fun and experimental, and you can feel the sense of enthusiasm and excitement that they have. They were completely behind us, and when I have that trust I can open myself and make my best work.”
