Yes, Summer is alive and ferociously kicking at this point. So jackets may not be on your radar, but with the excruciating warmth comes that well-deserved post-sundown evening chill. Luckily, adidas knows this and has just the thing.

Cue the Chinese New Year Jacket.

First released around this year’s Chinese New Year, the jacket was never your average Three Stripes zip-up. It took familiar adidas sportswear codes and gave them a distinctly Chinese spin, with a Mandarin-style collar and traditional-inspired knotted closures sitting alongside those instantly recognizable stripes.

Unsurprisingly, people wanted in. And while its original moment on the calendar may have come and gone, the jacket itself is far too good to pack away until next year. Yes, we’re suggesting a jacket in July. Bear with us.

Nobody is asking you to throw it on for a midday stroll under the blazing sun. But when the sun finally clocks out and that suspiciously chilly evening breeze arrives, suddenly an extra layer doesn’t seem so ridiculous.

Its loose, relaxed shape makes it easy to throw over a tank or T-shirt without feeling overly bundled up, instantly turning even the most bare-bones summer fit into something worth looking at twice.

Besides, good jackets don’t suddenly become bad jackets because the weather app says 28 degrees. Wear it late, wear it loose and let summer do its thing. Consider this your after-dark insurance policy.
