Editor’s Notes: adidas Originals and Foot Locker EU have teamed on a limited-edition release of the L.A. Trainer III S, a new sneaker inspired by the Three Stripes’ popular L.A. Trainer.

The L.A. Trainer first hit shelves in the early ‘80s as an experimental running shoe that featured three adjustable pegs in the heel, allowing runners to experiment with the amount of cushioning they wanted. As one of adidas’ first customizable sneakers, it caught the attention of athletes and non-athletes alike and gained popularity as a casual sneaker. Blending style and functionality, the reimagined L.A. Trainer III S pays homage to the versatility of the original.

The L.A. Trainer III S is co-created by adidas Originals, Foot Locker EU, and a select number of dedicated Foot Locker customers and, while reminiscent of its predecessor's runner shape brings a bold and more technical look to the sneaker. Keeping the signature three heel plugs and the grippy outsole of the OG, the L.A. Trainer III S features a lighter and more breathable upper thanks to its mesh makeup as well as welded stripes, debossed details, and two-toned laces, which give the new sneaker a distinctly more technical appearance.

When it comes to colors, the L.A. Trainer III S comes in stealthy all black with hits of solar red and solar yellow and, in a nod to the original’s customizable nature, is packaged with two interchangeable sets of heel plugs.

The release is limited to 500 pairs and is available now at Foot Locker.
