August has just wrapped up and with it yet another seven days packed with coveted releases. With the week behind us, Highsnobiety’s resident curator Rhianna Matthews is here to help us find the best across sneakers, fashion, and lifestyle to indulge in some much-deserved retail therapy. In the sneaker department, we have the latest iteration of Nike‘s Air Jordan 1, an “Obsidian” colorway paying homage to Michael Jordan’s alma mater, as well as ASICS‘ re-release of the GEL-Kinsei, a sneaker first spotted in 2005. This week also saw exciting collaborations, from Junya Watanabe and Levi’s to our very own partnership with Chinatown Market.
So, without further ado, scroll down to peep what Rhianna has to say about this week’s best drops below.
Jil Sander Wool T-Shirt
“Uhhh, this Jil Sander wool tee! Such a beautiful piece. What really makes this stand out to me is the rib-knit crewneck collar. An absolute must to invest in.”
Chinatown Market x Highsnobiety Smiley Hawaiian Shirt
“If you’re yet to find the ultimate tropical shirt to keep that summer-ready vibe strong year-round, we’ve got your back with our very own Chinatown Market collab featuring Hawaiian shirts and bucket hats. As explained by the brand’s founder Mike Cherman, the smiley is a symbol of happiness for people to wear while the world is in chaos. The collection will only be available for a few more days, so cop while you can!”
S.R. STUDIO LA. CA. SOTO Button-Down Shirt
“Artist Sterling Ruby’s latest collection includes one-of-one hand-painted pieces, and this long-sleeve denim shirt is super dope. Each piece is completely unique, which makes this collection even more special.”
Kapital Hooded Coat
“It’s needless to say that Kapital kills it every damn time. Just look at this tiger-patterned faux fur coat. The silhouette is also designed with plenty of space, giving an overall relaxed impression.”
Our Legacy Langoustine Padded Vest
“Our Legacy continues to fuse classic designs with contemporary pieces, and this clean vest is proof of that. A really nice layering piece to transition you into the fall weather.”
Junya Watanabe x Levi’s Rayon Check Pants
“Now, let’s take it up a notch now with Junya Watanabe’s latest collab with Levi’s. This collection has some next-level denim designs, including these pants featuring plaid panels, nylon pockets, and exaggerated cuffs at hem. You really can’t go wrong with Japanese denim design.”
Palace Aight Pants
“A highlight from Palace‘s latest drop is this pair of ‘Aight’ pants in olive green. I’m not sure if it was the pants or the homely London slang description that drew me to this pair. Either way, these pants are MAD.”
AGR Cargo Shorts
“Let’s move in a much more playful direction now. AGR has recently dropped an SSENSE-exclusive capsule comprising dope colorful pieces to rock for the last of your last summer outings, with these shorts being a standout.”
Nike WMNS Shox “Enigma”
“Nike keeps serving the steeze with its latest “Enigma” Shox, available exclusively in women’s sizes. The silhouette is a brand new Shox-equipped pair bringing Nike’s early ’00s cushioning technology firmly into the present day. The retro-influenced upper goes well with the brutalist Shox cushioning and arrives in ‘Lime Blast’ and ‘Hyper Crimson’ colorways. I really can’t decide which colorway is my favorite.”
Nike Air Jordan 1 “Obsidian”
“Following the release of the women’s patent leather ‘UNC’ Air Jordan 1 earlier this year, the AJ1 “Obsidian” harks back to Michael Jordan’s days at the University of North Carolina. This OG pair is super clean and also comes in GS sizes, which a lot of women will appreciate.”
