Double Tap to Zoom

In today’s crowded footwear world, it can be hard to stand out. Not for ECCO. Founded over 60 years ago by Birte and Karl Toosbuy, the family-run Danish brand is all about creating shoes that don’t just look and feel amazing, but are built to last.

ECCO’s been making waves with its three in-house brands—ECCO, ECCO Leather, and ECCO.kollektive—pushing boundaries in design since day one. Kicking off ECCO Leather in 1991 as a design-led tannery, the brand quickly teamed up with some of the biggest luxury names in the business. But ECCO isn’t one to sit back and rest on past achievements. Every year, ECCO looks for fresh talent by hosting HOTSHOP—a creative event where new designers can experiment with cool materials and try out new techniques. In 2022, they launched ECCO.kollektive, ditching the usual designer-manufacturer playbook and focusing on real partnerships with emerging creatives. Some of the collabs so far? Kiko Kostadinov, Ottolinger, and Peter Do, to name just a few.

If you’ve been keeping tabs, you’ll know ECCO isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Building on past collabs, the Danish brand linked up with RAL7000STUDIO again to give their signature minimalist designs a streetwear twist. To kick things off, they went big at Copenhagen Fashion Week with a DIY “Hackathon,” where guests got hands-on and customized their own kicks. Over in New York, ECCO’s long-time creative partner Natacha Ramsay-Levi joined forces with Chloë Sevigny to host a dinner celebrating Ramsay-Levi’s third collection with ECCO. The evening brought together ECCO’s family and friends, including Alex Consani and Aweng Chuol. Guess it’s safe to say ECCO knows a thing or two about creating a moment. Just look at the latest ECCO.kollektive x Louis-Gabriel Nouchi collection launch at Chez Margaux, NYC.

ECCO takes care of everything in-house, from the first sketch to the leather tanning and final product. With its three brands working in sync, the Danish company is constantly pushing the limits of footwear and leather design. They're also leveling up their tech game with innovations like  ECCO BIOM® NATURAL MOTION®, which lets your feet move more naturally, and ECCO FLUIDFORM®, a process that perfectly bonds the sole and upper for a seamless fit. Whatever your footwear dreams may be, you can bet ECCO is here to make them come true.
