ASICS reintroduced its early 2000s runner, the GEL-1090, in 2019. The releases have died down since, but the brand is looking to breathe new life into the silhouette with a collaboration alongside one of streetwear's biggest names. Today, we get an official look at BAPE's reimagining of the retro runner, just ahead of its international release.

We see the old school silhouette decked out in BAPE's favorite pattern, camouflage. Yet while camo is ostensibly intended to help you blend in, you're sure to stand out in these bad boys, largely thanks to the complementary pops of orange, red, and yellow throughout.

The woodland camo upper is predominantly constructed from mesh, with suede overlays. Orange accents provide splashes of color via the ASICS tiger stripe, GEL-1090 branding, and additional tiger claw markings just above the midsole. The shade is also incorporated in BAPE's tiger shark motif that is applied to the medial side of the shoe. More logos then appears in yellow on the tongue and heel, while the insoles are marked with red-colored BAPE and ASICS logos.

This GEL-1090 doesn't serve as the first collaboration between BAPE and ASICS, of course; the two previously tag-teamed with GEL-Kayano Trainer back in 2015.

BAPE and ASICS' collaborative GEL-1090 sneaker launches internationally from August 22 via BAPE's flagship stores and BAPE web stores for ¥19,800 (about $180).
