The film is inspired by a 2016 New York Magazine article, "The Hustlers at Scores" that went viral. In the upcoming drama, both Wu and Lopez lead a group of former strip club employees who team up to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients. Writer/director Lorene Scafaria will be directing from her own screenplay.

The film also marks the acting debut of Cardi B, as she previously collaborated with Jennifer Lopez on the single, "Dinero," last year. In addition, Collider points out that Cardi B will portray as Serena, one of Lopez’s best friends who becomes her close accomplice.

Hustlers will also feature Oscar-winner Mercedes Ruehl and Keke Palmer, while Mette Towley and Trace Lysette are currently in negotiations for supporting roles. An official release date has not been announced yet, however, shooting for the film begins on March 22 in New York City.
