Editor’s Notes: Carhartt WIP has teamed up with Converse to contribute to its Renew initiative in which the brand is developing more sustainable ways of creating products. For this particular collaboration, Carhartt work garments have been transformed into pairs of the Chuck 70.

Roughly 1,000 Carhartt work jackets, pants, and overalls were sourced from UK-based vintage retailer Beyond Retro, as the clothing was then divided into three color ranges of navy, black, and brown. Next, the garments were cut to be fashioned into individual panels for the Chuck 70. This type of technique means no two pairs of the Carhartt WIP x Converse Chuck 70 are exactly alike.

With this project alone, Converse has kept more than 108,000 textile items from being sent to landfills.
