Double Tap to Zoom

Chance the Rapper used his Saturday Night Live monologue to pay tribute to his beloved Chicago, aka "the second city."

Last night's SNL host delivered a rap-monologue extolling the virtues of the second city, as well as some of his favorite "second bests." He gave a shout-out to Bing, Pepsi, Percy Jackson: Lightning Thief (over Harry Potter), because he's "the kind of guy that likes the second-best, son." Watch a clip from the monologue below.

Chance wore a red Chicago Teachers Union sweatshirt while hosting, in support of the teachers who have been on strike in his home city since October 17. Chicago teachers are demanding more support staff, higher raises and limits to class size according to CNN.

Appearing as both a host and musical guest was a career highlight for the rapper, after making his SNL debut in 2015. Chance recently told Jimmy Kimmel "Honestly, it's been a dream for me since I was a little kid. My older cousin Chris used to have all this MC Hammer memorabilia ... he had all this stuff, and one of them was a VHS recording of MC Hammer hosting and [serving as the] musical guest to SNL, so I always wanted to do that."

He performed "Zanies and Fools" and "Handsome" off his debut studio album The Big Day.
