Photographer and artist Coco Capitán is known for her humorous typeface-based works and images that explore the nature of photos in the age of social media. Last season, her work was elevated on a higher platform through a collaboration with Gucci's creative director, Alessandro Michele.

In addition featuring collaborative pieces in the label's Fall/Winter 2017 collection, Capitán's art was also featured as part of Gucci's multi-city art wall campaign, putting her witty aphorisms on the sides of buildings in cities like New York and Milan.

“I think words are very precious, and if put together in the right order they can create a linguistic masterpiece that feels like your favorite painting,” she says in an interview with us. “People call this poetry, but I prefer not to use that word, because poetry seems reduced to poets and language intellectuals.”
