When in Paris, get your cowboy boots made by a local French shoemaker. Or at least, so says COMME des GARÇONS.

In COMME des GARÇONS’ Spring/Summer 2026 show, sculptural blazers and gowns defined by twisted bulges of cloth were subtly grounded by white cowboy-style boots. Against CDG’s manic dressmaking experiments, the shoes were easy to overlook. On their own, they’re quite the lookers.

Get up close with the $664 western boots to really appreciate the detailing. And its maker.

The boots are a collaboration with the relatively small brand Mexicana Boots, based in the French city of Bordeaux but specializing in traditional Western shoes handmade in Mexico since 1988.

This French company does it all, from tribal-embroidered sneakers to “cowboy clogs” and cowboy boots, like those made for COMME des GARÇONS.

These white boots get their color from paint cracking atop the leather upper (similar to Maison Margiela’s painted shoes) and smeared onto the wooden midsole. The black pair, originally not seen on the runway, is more conventional black leather with a purposefully weathered sole.

Charms dangle from their back, one styled like a bolo tie and the other in the shape of CDG’s classic three-letter logo in a rare moment of overt branding. These aren't even CDG's freakiest cowboys, however: back in 2015, its HOMME PLUS menswear imprint created pairs of ultra-pointy Guarachero boots inspired by rural Mexican dance culture.

Meanwhile, tese more ordinary boots are Mexicana’s first fashion collaboration, and it’s gone straight to the top with a pioneer of avant-garde design. This seemingly random link-up is actually a classic COMME des GARÇONS move. After all, the label often employs niche Japanese shoemakers to create even wilder shoes.
