Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who's got the chunkiest summer sandal of them all? Right now, Converse holds the crown with its beefy dad sandal collection — which, by the way, just welcomed another voluminous stepper.

It's looking to be a summer of big sneaker-sandals, and Converse Japan has added a Trekwave Gladiator sandal to the growing offering. Like the previous Trekwave sandal, Converse's gladiator sandal presents another stacked sole borrowed from Converse's trekking-style shoes.

But this time, Converse added some "are you not entertained?" vibes. For the uninitiated, that's Russell Crow's iconic line from Ridley Scott's Gladiator movie.

Smooth, leathery, gladiator-style straps overlap, creating a stylish and breathable upper. But that's not all. Converse's new Trekwave sandal also dishes out some classic All-Star elements, producing a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for the brand's heritage.

OG Chuck Taylor heads may notice the iconic sneaker's rubber details around the midsole and toe, which is also explored with Converse's other chunky sandal.

Converse's Trekwave Gladiator sandal comes in a few versions, from the looks of it. There have been sightings of a high-top and mini iteration around the internet. While the others are still awaiting official launch dates, Converse's Trekwave Gladiator sandal lands on April 16 at atmos Tokyo.

Between Converse and other sneaker brands' massive dad sandal efforts, I only have one thing to say: Strap in, girls — we're going stomping this summer.
