Yep, it's happening again: a favorite childhood movie is being remade by Hollywood. And, as much as I love Jack Harlow and the idea of him playing the role of Billy Hoyle, it's safe to assume that a 2023 version of White Men Can't Jump won't hit the same as the original from 1992.

It's rare for a movie remake to actually be better than the original, however, I am going to refrain from judging too much until the remake is out — and there's not long to wait now.

Arriving on Hulu on May 19, the new wardrobe of the cast has already been causing some controversy. Fans of the original film will remember Billy Hoyle's iconic Nike Air Command FORCE, however, due to Jack Harlow's New Balance contract, he will be wearing the American brand's 650 sneakers.

But, if you look past the rapper's contractual obligations stopping him from wearing actual basketball shoes, the casting of Harlow does make a lot of sense.

Not only is he a big name to add to the cast list but he is also a genuine basketball fan, regularly making appearances courtside during games. Most recently, he was snapped at the playoff final game between the Golden State Warriors and L.A. Lakers wearing a full Martine Rose tracksuit with New Balance 550 sneakers (of course).

And while there, he will have seen that Billy Hoyle's previous actor, Woody Harrelson in attendance. So, it's only natural to compare the styles of the two white men who can't jump.

Harrelson opted for a more low-key and formal approach to court-side dressing, choosing to wear a blue shirt, leather jacket, and white sneakers courtesy of Flamingos Life.

The actor has previously caught our eye thanks to his style — he wore a tie-dye shirt under a double-breasted blazer for the original White Men Can't Jump premiere and has made headlines for his custom AF1s — and this outfit is yet another solid look. But, when compared to his White Men Can't Jump replacement, it does fall a bit flat.

We're yet to see whether Jack Harlow can do the character of Billy Hoyle justice, but he's one-upped Woody Harrelson in the sartorial stakes here.
