Double Tap to Zoom

Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor in an action-packed UFC 229 finale that spilled over into violence outside the ring. Shortly after winning by submission, Nurmagomedov jumped out of the cage in a rage and attacked someone from McGregor’s camp. An all-out brawl ensued, with several members of Nurmagomedov’s team attacking McGregor in the octagon.

During the post-fight press conference, Nurmagomedov shared the reasons for his unexpected post-fight attack, saying, “This is not my best side. He talked about my religion, he talked about my country, he talked about my father.”

While Nurmagomedov did appear to express regret that his anger had got the best of him, the lightweight UFC champion tried to put things in perspective by comparing his actions to those of McGregor, who attacked a UFC bus in April, injuring two fighters.

“He came to Brooklyn, he broke bus, and nearly killed two people. So why do people still talk about me jumping over the cage? I have shown respect,” Nurmagomedov said.
