Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" has been nominated for a Country Music Award, marking the first official country accolade the artist has received since the track was kicked off the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in March for not embracing "enough elements of today’s country music."

In response, Billy Ray Cyrus hopped on the first (of many) official remix of the viral track, which has now been nominated for CMA's " Musical Event of the Year" category. Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus will compete against songs by Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton, Maren Morris, Brooks & Dunn and Brantley Gilbert and Lindsay Ell.

In June, Lil Nas X made a surprise appearance during day three of CMA Fest to perform "Old Town Road" with Billy Ray Cyrus and Keith Urban.
