A Two-Toed Nike Sneaker Fit for the MoMA
The Nike Air Rift 2 is now officially worthy of the Museum of Modern Art.
The New York City institution advances its partnership with the Swoosh, revealing two colorful Air Rift 2 sneakers for its next collaborative release.
Similar to the pairing's Everyday Socks, the Air Rifts burst into the scene in extra-bold "Hyper Verde" and "Black/Light Fuschia" color schemes. And on top of the usual Nike stamps, MoMA branding appears on the breathable upper, clear outsole, and insoles.
Elsewhere, the traditional Air Rift design shines. Fans can count on the signature laceless, strap-free design plus the chunky soles infused with Nike Air. The tabi-style toes, too.
It's just MoMA art now.
Nike and MoMA have been technically linked to each other since 2017, when the museum put up samples of the 1980 Air Force 1s on display in an exhibit. But in 2024, their friendship entered a new era as they announced a series of collaborative releases that, of course, included sneakers.
Since then, the brands have dropped exclusive socks and Air Max 95s based on unreleased 1994 versions. Meanwhile, there's MoMA x Jordan 1s rumored for 2027.
Right now, the two minds are serving up vibrant Air Rift 2 sneakers, which are expected to release in September. Oh, and it will come with MoMA x Nike tabi socks.
