New Balance

New Balance's dad shoes are going on a diet. The New Balance 204L sneaker is a textured cross between an aughts-era runner and a 1970s performance shoe — sans size.

It also carries that big Miu Miu energy that New Balance is more than well-versed in.

Tastefully slim in essence, the 204L sneaker is still made bold by suede paneling and leather swathes that balance its demure disposition.

Pared-down New Balance sneakers are not unheard of for NB. Sure, it's not as commonplace as the chunky ethos running through gems like the 1906U and the beefed-up 9060, but New Balance can get skinny when it needs to — no GLP-1s required.

The New Balance 204L sneaker made its debut in 2025 in "Mushroom/Arid Stone" and has lived quite a few lives since then, including a fruit-flavored Kith collab and many Miu Miu-minded tonal iterations.

Now, in a tasty black and white colorway, the shoe is bringing some big panda energy into the fold, a welcome touch to the tonal standard that occupies most of the 204L zeitgeist. It's not a crazy switch-up, but this black-and-white colorway, available soon on the New Balance website for $120, adds some nice contrast to the skinny sneaker situation.

If there is one thing New Balance knows, it's, well, balance.
