New Balance’s Soccer-Skate Crossover Has No Business Looking This Good
The New Balance Numeric 442 is a heck of a crossover sneaker. And that's a compliment, by the way.
It borrows from the brand's 442 soccer cleat which has since become a lifestyle sneaker and Jack Harlow shoe. As a Numeric model, it's essentially a soccer shoe you can skate in, with a classic slim shape, grippy and durable Ndurance outsoles, and a long foldover tongue.
We've seen soccer-inspired skate shoes before (recall the adidas Busenitz). However, this is New Balance's take. And it's quite good.
It offers a cool mashup design and comes in genuinely nice color options. It debuted in the summer in a bold "Heron Blue" colorway. With the latest release, New Balance is going more low-key.
The newest Numeric 442 "Dark Night" sneaker arrives with blacked-out suede uppers and leather touches, topped off with contrast white stitching and branding moments. It's simple, clean, and admittedly cool-looking. No notes.
It also comes in white. But the black colorway honestly takes the cake.
I don't even skate, but I'd wear these.
Right now, the New Balance Numeric 442 "Dark Night" sneakers are available at select skate shops for around $120.
