Nike Reheats a Flamin' Hoops Sneaker
Some sneakers cook, as the kids might say. But Nike's latest revival? It bakes.
Enter the Air Bakin.
Nike confirmed the basketball model's return during a recent SNKRS Verified showcase, which also included first looks at shattered Air Force 1s and red-bottomed First Sight Noir shoes.
The Air Bakin is expected to return in original form (and colorways). Fans can count on the uniquely wavy uppers that look like flames, the breathable underlays, and Air-cushioned soles. Even better, it's expected to rerelease in its OG "Varsity Red" scheme, easily the hottest Bakin ever.
The Air Bakin debuted on the courts in 1997, and even earned co-signs from NBA stars like Tim Hardaway and Kevin Garnett. It soon became just as popular in the streets.
It had a moment in the 2010s and even a Supreme collaboration in 2023, which resulted in three nice takes on the model. But now, Nike is officially reheating the Bakin for a 2026 comeback.
Nike's Air Bakin is slated to release on the brand's website in September. And according to sneaker leakers, more colorways will drop throughout the rest of the year.
