Summer 2025 saw the Serena Williams Design Crew and Nike advance the dress sneaker craze with the launch of the Air Max Phenomena, a loafer hybrid supported by Nike's famous Air technology. A year later, the Air Max loafer still means business.

SWDC releases are usually one-and-done affairs, but not the Air Max Phenomena. The model is still going strong in 2026. Nike has not only restocked the previous run of colorways, but it has also introduced all-new schemes.

Most recently, the Swoosh shoe slipped into the popular "Cacao Wow" colorway, which gave us the tastiest Air Max Phenomena yet. It featured the usual loafer-style leather uppers and chunky Air soles, all bathed in this scrumptious chocolate brown.

Nike has also released a new "Metallic Silver" version, while putting fresh stock of the original black and "Burgundy Crush" pairs on the shelves (mostly overseas Nike stores and retailers have carried them).

Other Nike dress shoes have stepped into the scene since, including the reborn Air Max Dolce and classy leather Shox sneakers. But the success of the Phenomena continues to be, well, a phenomenon.

Not everyone has liked it, as is the case with most mashup sneakers dressed for a black-tie event these days. However, there is a certain everyday appeal about the crossover model. It's not overly techy but classy enough to slip past HR. Not to mention, it has some admittedly nice color options.

That's not to say Nike's other efforts haven't been good. They're great. But between the consistent restocks and surprise new colorways, the Air Max Phenomena is clearly the office favorite.

Could it become a regular in the Nike collection down the road? Only time will tell. For now, this techy loafer is here to stay.
