The IKEA x OFF-WHITE collection is set to make its official debut this November, but pieces such as the “KEEP OFF” rug, which actually belongs to the Art Event 2019 collection dropping May 10, have been sold already. A recent surprise quickstrike release at IKEA’s Manhattan flagship location had a limited number of the standout Virgil Abloh-designed rug available on a first-come, first-served basis — which, of course, sold out. The “new lower price” tag seen in the tweet below is not for the rug, as previously thought, but for another item in-store.

The sole IKEA NYC flagship is actually a “planning studio concept,” and places an emphasis on smart solutions for urban living and small spaces. The store, located at 999 Third Avenue, New York, NY, made its grand opening on April 15, and this surprise drop of a notable IKEA x OFF-WHITE piece is most likely suggested as the company’s gesture in celebrating the store’s public opening in a quiet but eventful manner.

However, if you can’t wait till the official drop and have the funds, some pieces from the collection are already reselling for many times more than their retail value here.

Full details regarding the IKEA x OFF-WHITE collection with pricing can also be found here.
