Highsnobiety

The nominations for the 2020 Academy Awards are in and we're somewhat bored to reveal it's as predictable as ever. While there are some great films in the mix here — shout out to Bong Joon-Ho's Parasite and Rian Johnson's Knives Out — the rest is failing to excite.

Todd Phillip's Joker leads the way with 11 nominations, including Best Picture. There he's joined by the other three horsemen of 2019: The Irishman, Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood, and 1917. Other films in that category include Little Women, Jojo Rabbit, Parasite, Ford V Ferrari, and Marriage Story.

As for Best Director, Issa Rae summed the vibe up perfectly during her category announcement — "congratulations to those men" — as there is not a single woman nominated in the directing category.

Similarly to last year, this years Oscars ceremony will take place without a host. Winners will be announced on Sunday, February 9, live on ABC.
