It's that time of the year when – in the U.K. at least – local tennis courts are awash with kids trying to replicate their favorite Wimbledon heroes.

Whether it’s an attempt at Novak Djokovic’s infamous backhand, a stinging Rafa Nadal forehand, or a kid screaming “You Cannot Be Serious” at his mum, it's becoming an annual occurrence around these parts.

While for many this is a chance to dust cobwebs from racquets and buy a new tube of balls, for others (like me) it serves more as an opportunity to wear really nice tennis get-up – which is what it’s all about, really.

For 2022 though, my tennis attire has gone up a few notches mostly thanks to the introduction of Palmes Tennis Society, a Copenhagen-based label founded by Nikolaj Hansson, inspired by the culture of tennis, both on and off-court.

Describing itself as bringing “a modern ethos to the sport and its culture” through garments and accessories that are made with “eco-friendly materials, be they organic or recycled” since its 2021 inception, Palmes already finds itself stocked at big stores like SSENSE and Wood Wood.

To spotlight its most recent mainline collection which is available online now (following a capsule with American podcasters How Long Gone), Palmes has teamed up with photographer Lucas Creighton and stylist Amanda Burkett for an editorial captured around New York City.

Comprising everything from tees, sweaters, and sweatpants, to off-court blazers, headwear, and accessories, Palmes’ SS22 collection is a prime example of the evolution of tennis wear and how smashing aces in something other than all-white is, well, pretty OK (even if Wimbledon doesn't agree).
