Ressence, the Belgian-based watch company known for its innovative rotating disc design, has unveiled its most minimal watch to date: the Ressence TYPE 9.

Since it was founded in 2010, Ressence’s watches have always swayed toward uncomplicated designs that put its rotating functionality in the spotlight, but the TYPE 9 is stripped back to the extreme.

The company's first 39mm watch, its compact Grade 5 titanium case is 11mm thick and the whole thing weighs a meager 39 grams.

"The TYPE 9 is the smallest watch we can produce to this day, considering the size of the components,” says Benoît Mintiens, Founder of Ressence, in a statement. “From a distance, it looks very classical but up close it reveals itself as much more sophisticated. It is a modern fit for every wrist."

The watch's simple face indicates only hours and minutes, with the hour disc featuring just the numbers 9 and 3 while the minute indicator, positioned on the bezel, has a marker for every five minutes — this sleek design has been refined down to only the bare essentials.

And, as with all Ressence watches, there’s not a crown in sight, instead, setting the time and winding your watch is done by turning the caseback.

Available worldwide from November 2024 through Ressence’s official retailer network, the watch is available in grey and will be followed by a more striking aqua-blue variation in February 2025. The watch retails for CHF 12,500 (around $14,130).

Entirely uncomplicated, the Ressence TYPE 9 is as simple as the company's rotating watches come.
