Editor’s Notes: Rick Owens continues its collaborative efforts with sustainable French brand VEJA, today releasing a new collection for Spring/Summer 2020. The drop features two silhouettes in the Performance Runner and the Hiking Style, each of which are offered in multiple colorways.
The Performance Runner arrives in three looks, as the silhouette is a reinterpretation of the FW19 runner seen in Rick Owens' seasonal runway show. Crafted from seamless wool knit, the detailing on the sneaker is made from plant-based castor oil materials to reduce plastic usage. The insole and the outsole are then constructed from recycled and natural based materials, including recycled plastic bottles and Amazonian rubber.
Designed for use on rough and natural terrain, the vegan Hiking Style features a leather upper made from corn waste, while the midsole and outsole are crafted from the same materials as the sole units of the Performance Runner. The Hiking Style also incorporates Rick Owens' signature double back tag, as well as mega lacing detailing.
