Double Tap to Zoom

It’s hard to get a winter boot wrong, but it’s also hard to get one half interesting. Most follow the same rulebook, and rightfully so. When the weather turns, function tends to win out over fanfare. Nobody wants cold, wet feet just for the sake of a good fit. Still, a little effort in the design department wouldn't go amiss.

The Salomon x THE BROKEN ARM Grolle is a welcome exception.

Its scuffed-up leather gives it the sort of lived-in look that usually takes a few years to achieve, while the colorful stitching is a nice departure from the usual all-black winter boot situation. Add in the fun metal detailing and you've got something that feels a lot less predictable than most of its cold-weather counterparts.

Even better, the leather is supposed to develop a patina with wear. So unlike the pristine sneakers you're constantly trying not to crease, these are actually meant to look a little rough around the edges. A concept we can get behind.

It's still a proper winter boot, built with Salomon's know-how, but one that doesn't sacrifice all personality in the name of practicality. And frankly, there aren't enough of those around.
