Spider-Man fans were devastated by the recent fallout between Sony and Disney and the resultant pulling of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man from the MCU. Now, Avengers: Endgame directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, have spoken out about the contentious split calling it  a “tragic mistake on Sony’s part.”

Speaking to the Toronto Sun, Anthony Russo hinted that the partnership was unsteady from the beginning. Referring to the Sony-Disney deal, Anthony Russo said "we know how hard that marriage was to make in the first place, so the fact that the marriage fell apart isn’t really that surprising to me and Joe.”

Joe Russo backed his brother up, calling the deal "a tenuous, fraught union." He also said that it was a “big mistake” for Sony to think that they can replicate Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige's “penchant for telling incredible stories and the amazing success he has had over the years.” Read the full interview here.
