If what Highsnobiety staffers are wearing is a barometer for what’s in style, then denim takes the cake. Canadian tuxedos, wide-leg silhouettes, selvedge, vintage – the variety is aplenty around our offices. That’s what makes denim exciting: it’s never dull, it’s open to interpretation, and it's pretty democratic.

This season, we teamed up with Macy's to dissect the biggest trends for spring and to pick out a few pieces that’ll give you the inspiration you need right now. Our first trend looked at dressing in neutrals, while our second installment focused on a remixed version of prep style. This one, called Denim Disruption, dives into denim and highlights original takes on classic pieces.

From prints to streetwear staples reimagined through the lens of denim, brands are coming through with flex-worthy ’fits. Scroll down to check out looks from Guess, Levi’s, and Sun + Stone, and find a few of our styling tips for pulling off the trend.

The Cargo Jean

One of our favorite pieces to wear right now, denim or otherwise, is the cargo jean. It's one of those pieces that you think you already own, but quickly realize you don't. This spring, swap out your go-to jeans for these ones by Guess. Wear them with a white tee and a blazer for a casual-refined look.

Next-Level Denim Jackets

You know what you don't need in your wardrobe right now? A basic jean jacket. Instead, step up your game with a next-level denim jacket. For a more subtle flex, look to this one by Sun + Stone. Its four patch pockets in the front and button-down closure gives it a shirt-jacket feel, which is fitting for spring. Pair it with a navy tee and white trousers for a preppy look.

On the other end of the spectrum is this patchwork denim jacket by Guess. It's bold, fun, and, if patches are your thing, go wild and add as many of your own to it. That personal touch will take this next-level jacket to another level.

Printed Denim

If you're looking for a piece that's really going to pop on the 'gram, check out these checker-print jeans by Levi's. These will look equally cool at a music festival as they would hanging out in the city. Pair with a vintage rocker tee and your favorite kicks to complete the look.

Check out Macys.com or pop into your local Macy’s store for these denim pieces and more.
