Timberland and Zalando Take LFW by Storm
To launch their new Advice of an Icon campaign at London Fashion Week, Timberland kicked off an event with a footprint as indelible as the Original Yellow Boot™ itself. Completely taking over the Village Underground in Shoreditch, the event was more than just your average fashionable night out—it was an unforgettable night of music, fashion, and mentorship, featuring everything from raise-the-roof performances, electrifying DJ sets, and a fully functional recording studio.
The guest list read like a who’s-who of London’s cultural landscape: Skepta, Gabriel Moses, Novelist, Strands, Finesskid, Jayahadadream, SL, Deedot, Clint 419, and streamers Samham, Tyrone1mc and Billy the Goat were all in attendance.
Also in the mix were Zalando ambassadors Zaidane Chitou, Gaius Okami, and Naïsha Alcindor, who were on deck to capture the event online. Fitted out in pieces from the collection, they bridged the generational gap between Timberland’s ironclad streetwear legacy and forward-thinking fashion.
For decades now, Timberland, and particularly the Original Yellow Boot™, have been an iconic brand in the global hip-hop and rap scene, with their joint ethos of unabashed creativity and bold aesthetic. It makes perfect sense, then, that Skepta is such a massive part of the Advice of an Icon campaign, as well as the LFW event; his live performance brought an unparalleled energy, as did the unannounced follow-up sets from Big Zuu, Jayahadadream and Ms Banks.
Community has been a huge aspect of Advice of an Icon since its inception, and Timberland and Balamii Radio had been doing the groundwork in London’s underground scene in the weeks following up to the event, running a competition for rising artists, with mentorship from Novelist and M1onTheBeat. The winner, Havier Mendoza, opened the event, stepping into the spotlight for the first time like a seasoned pro and wowing the crowd off the bat.
