Megan Thee Stallion has released a statement after it was confirmed she was suffered gunshot wounds at a Hollywood party over the weekend.

"Black women are so unprotected & we hold so many things in to protect the feelings of others w/o considering our own," the "Hot Girl Summer" rapper wrote on Twitter. "It might be funny to y’all on the internet and just another messy topic for you to talk about but this is my real life and I’m real life hurt and traumatized."

Initial reports suggested Megan sustained minor injuries, while Tory Lanez was charged with carrying a concealed weapon after they were both involved in a house party altercation, per TMZ.

According to reports, officers were called to investigate a disturbance at a house party in Hollywood Hills around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday. Witnesses said that "people were arguing in an SUV before someone fired shots in the air ... and the vehicle took off." Police then intercepted Lanez and Meg in the SUV and reported finding a gun inside the vehicle.

Stallion was first thought to have sustained cuts on her foot from broken glass, but she has since confirmed that she was actually shot.

“The narrative that is being reported about Sunday morning’s events are inaccurate and I’d like to set the record straight,” she shared on Instagram. “On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me. I was never arrested, the police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets.”

Megan did not specify who shot her. She continued her statement on Instagram by saying, "I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night. I’m currently focused on my recovery, so I can return back to my life and back to making music as soon as possible.”

As for Tory Lanez, a police report confirms he was charged with carrying a concealed weapon in his vehicle. He has since been released on a $35,000 bond. It remains to be seen if there is any connection between Lanez and the shots fired at the party.

Before the house party altercation, both Lanez and MTS made an appearance on Kylie Jenner’s Instagram Live. Watch it below.

In recent months, Lanez and Meg have been romantically linked and were rumored to have been quarantining together during the California lockdown.
