Netflix has confirmed that its new movie Murder Mystery, starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, broke the record for the biggest opening weekend for a Netflix film. The streaming service shared the tweet below by the Netflix Is a Joke account and, according to Variety, a spokesperson confirmed that the viewing figures are indeed accurate.

Despite the generally poor reviews, the film was viewed on nearly 31 million accounts over its opening weekend, 13.3 million in North America and 17.5 million elsewhere. Viewers have to finish at least 70 percent of a film for a view to count, so clearly there's still love for Adam Sandler in 2019.

Netflix famously doesn't release its streaming data, but lately, the streaming giant has been sharing some of its more impressive stats.
