As hybrid footwear continues to dominate, shifting from sneaker-loafers to technical ballet flats, the natural next step in cross-pollinated footwear has officially arrived. Tapping into prep heritage and unc-on-the-grill codes, the Three Stripes introduces the adidas Originals Barreda Decode.

This silhouette doubles down on what has been an undeniably huge summer for boat shoes while anchoring it strictly in adidas identity. The classic moc-toe design still retains court shoe tooling with a chunky gum sole unit.

Presented in a rich, versatile colorway, the adidas Originals Barreda Decode ticks all the versatility boxes—boat shoe, neutral, comfortable sole unit—while somehow remaining surprisingly striking.

The upper features a suede moc-toe construction equipped with authentic 360-degree lacing around the collar. Subtle adidas branding accents the lateral quarter as the only detailing outside of function.

While most of the boat shoes in rotation this summer have either featured commando sole units or slimline, elegant versions, the adidas Barreda Recode looks to a chunky, smooth unit with little or no tread.

Interestingly, the Three Stripes has been infusing boat-shoe DNA into sneakers for a long time under its SPZL arm to great success. While the Barreda Decode feels more aligned with wider trends, its proportions might take some getting used to where the SPZL Lytham feels more natural for the brand.
