Every time a football competition appears on the horizon, football fans can rejoice in the fact that the kit announcements are not far away. While there are inevitably a number of flops, there are always a handful that hit the spot.

For the 2026 World Cup, one of the kits that really landed was the Japan Away Kit. The subtle design features a clean off-white backdrop with multi-colored lines running from top to bottom. Now, the adidas Originals Japan Federation Footwear Pack puts the palette in footwear form.

If you haven’t noticed, it’s becoming harder and harder to escape World Cup fever. It’s already burning at a high temperature and it’s only going up from here. We’ve even seen Jordan Brand getting in on the action.

But while Jordan Brand’s involvement feels unusual, the adidas Originals Japan Federation Footwear Pack feels like the most natural fit possible.

Retaining its gum sole unit, the design still somehow manages to feel retro despite the clean, modern color palette. Its low profile providing the understated antidote to the maximalist color scheme.

This isn’t the first and it certainly won’t be the last World Cup release in the coming weeks and months, but it might be our favorite yet. It’s highly wearable as a standalone shoe, but also pays homage to the event and a kit that’s worth remembering.
