There's a certain old-school futuristic charm about the digital watch, with its chunky seven-segment numbers and LED displays harking back to a point when the future was boxy and glowed fluorescent.

adidas Timing has—no pun intended—timed it well this FW17 with the release of its gorgeous ARCHIVE_M1 digital watch. The Trifoil has enjoyed a resurgence this past decade with well-appointed releases in footwear and apparel that squared the zeitgeist taste in styles that referenced past motifs but looked to the future through subtle design flexes or choice of materials.

And the ARCHIVE_M1 is no different. Released in athletically-appropriate matte colorways of bronze, silver or gold brushed steel, the chunky mesh straps fastens with a robust clasp while the housing and actual design of the watch seems reminiscent of a classic running track stop watch, in a nod to the athletic roots of the brand. The digital face displays time and date with a digital alarm clock incorporated into the circuitry.
