Late last year, adidas announced its partnership with the International Space Station, surprising even the most clued-up Three Stripes fan. Though known for its progressive approach to footwear, this out-there-even-for-adidas joint venture will see the German sportswear giant work closely with the ISS US National Lab, testing improvements to sneakers in outer space. And it's the first brand in history to do it.

As a result of the mission, adidas hopes to heighten the comfort and durability of its BOOST technology through rigorous experiments. Utilizing the testing conditions of space, the partnership will examine how things such as extreme heat and compression affect footwear and the wearer.

On the back of this, the Three Stripes has launched several final frontier-inspired sneakers, labeling it the "Space Race" series. And leading this gravity-defying series is a new colorway line-up of the ultra-popular Ultraboost 20. As well the sleek all-black sneaker, the space-ready line also adds a metallic, futuristic shine to a piece of footwear that is engineered for out-of-this-world comfort.
