New Balance's 993 current relationship status is complicated. Well, aesthetically that is.

Andrew Reynolds' signature 993 skate shoe just got a layered colorway upgrade that's complex in all the best ways.

In general, New Balance does delightful hues ridiculously well. Just take a look at any number of NB dad shoe classics like the blued-out 475, the dark olive 740, or the strawberry shortcake 471.

Now, the 993, pro skateboarder Andrew Reynolds' signature shoe, is joining the ranks of New Balance's hue-ly favored sneakers.

The upper, which pulls inspiration from NB's 990 series, wears a symphony of burnt orange leather, gray mesh paneling, and olive green suede at the midfoot.

This hodgepodge of neutral colors is tied together with a baby-pink lace treatment, all set atop a hardwearing cupsole for extra durability. All of this culminates in a snazzy skate sneaker that combines NB's classic dad-shoe steez with real skate-shoe swag.

Available on the New Balance website for $135, this 993 joins New Balance's arsenal of excellent skate shoes and now calls stunners like the NB 480 and the Numeric 600 colleagues.

Despite the simplicity-first aura that undertakes many of New Balance's dad shoe offerings, NB still knows how to get busy with slightly more complicated colorways. Simple isn't always better — dad shoe or otherwise.
