Any Fashion Week front-rower who's fallen victim to London’s capricious climate will tell you: If there’s one thing you can count on in the UK, it’s the weather’s ability to change at a moment’s notice. But this “charming” and quintessentially British unpredictability is something Burberry has long mastered. Since its inception, the London-born brand has understood that dressing for British weather requires more than just style. This autumn, its latest campaign celebrates the brand’s practical, element-proof legacy.

Burberry has never been a brand to shy away from its Britishness, and its latest offering is no different. Starring an array of UK icons, from Olivia Colman to Little Simz, the Alasdair McLellan-shot series shows Burberry’s outerwear is built not only for protection, but for personality. Each portrait is set against characteristically British backdrops—afternoon tea, a (likely delayed) train journey, a stroll down Southbank—reinforcing the idea that no matter the forecast, it’s always Burberry weather.

Burberry, Burberry

The new collection reimagines seven key outerwear styles—Trench, Quilt, Harrington, Puffer, Parka, Aviator, and Duffle—each with a nod to the brand’s storied history. Leading the charge is the trench, a piece so emblematic it’s practically a national treasure in its own right. Burberry’s latest twist on its most iconic piece features exaggerated gun flaps and bold B buckles, updates that feel as much about modern attitude as they do about heritage. A quintessential staple piece, trench has evolved into a global style statement—seen on everyone from Meryl Streep to Bella Hadid.

Meanwhile, the puffer jacket—a relatively modern addition to the outerwear landscape—gets the Burberry Check treatment with reversible styles featuring packaway hoods and the subtle inclusion of the Equestrian Knight Design (EKD), a logo that has been a part of the brand’s history since circa 1901.

Burberry’s aviator jackets, trimmed in lamb shearling, feel similarly nostalgic, but with a modern twist. With buckled collars and sleek B-cut zippers, these jackets are perfect for those looking to balance ruggedness with refinement. For a more minimalist look, the Harrington jacket, another classic, takes its cue from the 1960s, when mods made it their own. Today, Burberry reinterprets it with a cotton twill interior in the Burberry Check—a design detail that dates back to the ‘20s.

As Daniel Lee, Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer, so aptly puts it: “Burberry is about protection, functionality, and the outdoors.” This collection encapsulates all three, fusing archival silhouettes with a contemporary edge, while serving as an homage to the very weather that has shaped the brand’s identity for over a century.
