What We’re Saying: Chinatown Market launches its first-ever in-house sneaker, following collaborations with the likes of Crocs and PUMA. This pair, dubbed “Hotel Slippers” is inspired by Chinatown Market founder Mike Cherman’s love for rugs.

“In the four years I’ve been collecting antique rugs, I’ve never gotten tired of the detailing and artisan execution throughout each piece,” Cherman says. “For me this project is Chinatown’s way of honoring those colors and stories to create a piece that goes deeper than just a silhouette.”

The upper is made from a patchwork of patterend fabric that has been used in Chinatown Market jackets and apparel recently. The sole is a custom rippled sole and the entire project is a more luxurious take on hotel slippers, something that many view as disposable.
