For the first time ever, Dingyun Zhang and adidas have combined minds for an official collaboration. And with the designer behind extraterrestrial puffers at the helm of it all, it's no surprise that Zhang's first adidas sneaker is in a league of its own.

Announced last year and then unveiled in April, Zhang has taken the iconic adidas Samba sneaker on a thrilling journey through the whimsical Dingyun Zhang universe. The Samba emerges from this adventure, adorned in sleek all-black uppers and a striking padded bumper detail on the heel.

The Samba's suede "T" toe box and gum sole remained, but these traditional details also took a trip to the dark side.

Given its Darth Vader energy, Dingyun Zhang's adidas Samba sneakers would've made for a perfect treat on May 4, a.k.a. Star Wars Day ("May the fourth be with you"). However, the shiny patented Sambas will land on May 10 on adidas and Dingyun Zhang's websites.

For a chance to own this exclusive collaboration, fans can now participate in a drawing for Dingyun Zhang's adidas Sambas on the adidas CONFIRMED app. Retailing for $250, Zhang's Sambas sneakers certainly echo the high demand and limited availability of Zhang's creations.

Worn by the rich and famous, Zhang's coveted puffer pieces go for thousands on the designer's website (some sold out, too). It's true: Dingyun Zhang's adidas Sambas are going for $150 more than a regular Samba. At the same time, we've seen adidas Sambas reach almost half a grand, thanks to premium constructions from Italy. And those were snatched up, by the way.

Hey, sometimes you just gotta pay $250 for Dingyun Zhang puffers for the feet.
