Mulan tells the story of a young woman, Hua Mulan, who disguises herself as a man so that she can join in the fight against Northern invaders attacking China. The character in Disney's 1998 version was voiced by Ming-Na Wen.

“The eldest daughter of an honored warrior, Hua Mulan is spirited, determined and quick on her feet," Disney said in a statement. "When the Emperor issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army, she steps in to take the place of her ailing father as Hua Jun, becoming one of China’s greatest warriors ever.”

Donnie Yen, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, and the legendary Jet Li also feature in the forthcoming live-action Mulan, directed by Niki Caro and written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The film is scheduled to land in theaters in March of 2020.
