The Wait for Futura's Long-Awaited Dunks Is Over
As we stepped — or stumbled, depending on how you spent your NYE — into the new year, there was a wave of highly-anticipated sneaker drops awaiting sneakerheads at the door. Among them was Futura's Nike SB Dunk Low sneaker, crowned SB Dunk of the Year months before hitting skate shop shelves. After ample previews, Futura's Nike SB Dunks have finally arrived.
In writing, the Nike SB Dunk Low collaboration is a team-up with Futura's design studio, Futura Laboratories. The studio also sells Futura pieces, like the artist's Dr. Martens and Nike Dunks. Regardless, just know: the Dunks are very much by Futura.
The Nike SB Dunk's bleached panels serve as a canvas for Futura's artistic vision. Futura's unmistakable artwork adorns the shoe, resulting in a vibrant display of colorful strokes and splashes, punctuated by crisp white moments on the upper.
Futura Laboratories branding lands neatly throughout the Dunk sneaker, most notably through raised puff print on the heels and graphic-heavy insoles. Oh, and co-branded labels are stitched into the Dunks' famously pillowy tongue.
As color-changing shoelaces overlap the tongue, Futura's Nike SB Dunks are then rounded off with an icy translucent sole featuring Futura's autograph.
Since the first obscure reveal in late 2023, fans have gone wild for Futura's Nike SB Dunks (as they have done with the artist's previous and usually rare Nike SB efforts). Now, the wait is over for Futura's long-awaited Dunks, which drop on May 13 at Futura Laboratories. As we speak, fans can now enter a raffle for the Dunks on Futura Laboratories' website.
